007 | Text/Action for Goldenrod
[There have no doubt been plenty of people broadcasting their displeasure at the appearance of these creatures that have shown up, and even more talking about strange changes that have suddenly begun to take over their bodies within the last day or so. With each passing hour, the affliction seems to have affected more and more trainers.
At this point, though, Kaneki isn't interested in complaining about the situation on the Network, so he instead has a different question to ask.]
How long do you think this will last?
[That's assuming, of course, if this will even wear off...]
[Staying indoors is a solution that can only last for so long when your body is rapidly changing beyond your control. It started slowly as all things like this seem to at first, beginning with his aching leg and traveling outward from there to the rest of his body. While it wasn't particularly painful any more than the cut had been, it was an ache that settled into his bones in a way that was a little too familiar for his liking.
It wasn't like he had a whole lot of time to think about what was happening, at any rate. His first reaction to the change was initially to contact someone, but that never made it past being just a thought. For some reason, talking to anyone while like this was too daunting to think about, so he didn't. By now, though, he's wondering if maybe that wasn't the best idea.
Kaneki eventually has to leave his hotel room and wander outside thanks to a myriad of tentacles that now protrude from his shoulders and back, making it difficult to avoid undue property damage from being indoors. Not to mention the thick, purple substance that occasionally drips off of them, only to hiss and sizzle wherever it lands. At least going outside closer to dusk and away from the town's center made it less likely that he'd be spotted...maybe. None of his Pokemon are out with him, either, all either in their balls or back in his room. His Gear was left behind as well, so anyone trying to reach him right now won't get a response.
But now that he's out here...he honestly doesn't know what to do. He's had a day or so to actually quietly panic about the situation in private as the changes really took shape, leaving him at a bit of a loss afterwards. He doesn't want to be alone, not really...but he hasn't even gotten to a mirror to see what he looks like. He can't imagine it's good, and just not knowing for sure has his hands (which are blessedly still intact, compared to some) shaking a little at his sides, particularly when he lifts one up to hesitantly run his fingertips along the hard substance that has grown from the crown of his head down over his forehead and the bridge of his nose. It doesn't help that the growth has made it significantly harder to see in any direction that isn't straight on or slightly to either side, meaning that he wouldn't even be able to see if someone decided to approach from behind.]

Presumably, from study will come answers. Hopefully, to the question of how to reverse what's been happening.
text;
That's good to hear. Do you know if anyone has been successful at capturing any of them, yet?

One response won't hurt anything, surely, and it's not like he has a lot to say in the first place, outside of just...verifying.]
So it's affected you as well... Assuming, that is, that we're using "this" to refer to the same thing.
[text; private]
He doesn't bother elaborating, since there is only one thing he could be referring to right now.]
Yeah. It's not good.

[...Kaneki, there is so much fluff. If you think he's going to do anything but resign himself to the notion that he's not getting off the fainting couch for the duration and is instead just going to lie here and aggressively pet this...scarf thing he's got going on, you've got another thing coming to you, um.]
Is it terribly unpleasant, then?

[Or whatever happened here. Gundam doesn't know. He just knows that he would like to back to being normal because being partially Houndour is nowhere near as cool as he thought it would've been before it actually happened.]

Everything happened so quickly...I don't even know what to think about any of this.

[There's a sinking feeling in his gut as he sends that, coupled with the faint hope that he wasn't.]

well this ended up longer than expected
Maka never made it to the Center, or even outside of her room. As soon as she rolled out of bed (no sleep whatsoever, mind) the pain struck again, now spreading up to her head with an odd heat. The girl had the frame of mind, at least, to go to the mirror to examine her wound, make sure nothing was wrong.
Something was wrong, but somehow the pain wasn't getting worse, there was no blood. The scream that ripped out of her wasn't from pain, but horrible fear.
There was a sickle blade emerging from the side of her head. No, that can't be, that's not possible, why is it happening NOW if it's going to? were her panicked thoughts, curled up in a ball on the floor until the transformation finished. It took Kali nosing at her and Flash insisting she get up and look again to see that...oh, no, Maka had...fur? White fur, dark grey skin, claws...
...And no clothes.
After a brief panic over modesty things and stubbornly pulling on a skirt and buttoning up a shirt halfway (the new ruff made it almost impossible), Maka decided to...try and make the most of it that she could. It's like a werewolf thing, maybe it has a cure. She didn't know a whole lot about Absol, but she could read about them to make sure nothing...any more odd happens.
"They appear where there is disaster." Oh, please, I AM a disaster. Hopefully that didn't mean doom prophecies would start flooding into her head, though it does occur to Maka that...she needed to check up on her friends. Since Kaneki was closest (according to Flash he was outside of the city) Maka would go to him first. With much grumbling of "this is a bad idea" her Alakazam takes her to the spot where Kaneki is, but makes sure to warn her--"be careful about how you approach him."]
I already know, Flash, I don't like being snuck up on either.
["Yes, I know, I have all your memories." Bah, what is with this line? She wasn't going to sneak up on him...although Maka does take care to give him a wide berth as she circles around, noting the changes in him. Yes, the Tentacruel chimera infected him too, he looks absolutely miserable (a feat considering he usually looks very uncomfortable by default).]
Hey. [Maka says it in a calm tone, crouching down to be at level with her friend.] Mind if I sit here?
no subject
It's only when he catches sight out of her in his peripheral vision that he notices her changes...the sight of that blade protruding from her head making his stomach do an odd flip. The only reason he isn't completely surprised by her appearance is thanks to his own, the reminder of it sticking out over his face low enough for him to see the edge of.]
...It's late to be out. Did Flash know I was here?
no subject
[With the loss of her perception, at least there's a four foot tall psychic fox to keep tabs on her friends. ...And to subtly keep a shield around her so none of those tentacles even brush up against her, there will be no inappropriate touching as long as Dadkazam is here.]
I couldn't sleep, anyway. I guess the curse of the WerePokemon finally caught up with us.
[She tries to smile, though it feels strained and hollow. Be strong, Maka, be strong for your friend.]

[She sounds worried. Not in a real state of fear yet, exactly, but she's worried enough to want to forego text.]
[audio]
[He himself sounds...drained. Both emotionally and physically.]
Are you okay, Molly-san?
[audio]
[She's not really sure what to make of the changes that are happening, but she's not in pain, and she doesn't feel so weird, and she knows that others encountered worse monsters than she did. So she wants to say she's okay.]
[But she can tell Kaneki isn't.]
You don't sound okay.
