003 | Video
[A video starts showing what appears to be the outside space of a café. It's early enough that it isn't too crowded, which is what Kaneki was looking for before actually making this video. He could have gone to the park instead, but where he was now was a lot closer to the Pokemon Center...which he felt he needed to be near for the moment. While it isn't unusual at all for people to have their Pokémon outside of their balls and with them most of the time, he hasn't quite gotten used to it. Namely, he feels it might be a little inappropriate to have such a large bug out where people might be eating.
That large bug in question is flitting near his shoulder; up, down, left, right, and back again. Every now and then it tries to land on Kaneki's shoulder before taking to the air again, a little to large to actually settle there comfortably.]
I caught this Pokémon a few days ago on one of the routes here. My Zangoose injured him pretty badly, so I took him to the Pokémon Center right away. Everything seemed fine after that.
[He looks over to the Yanma, his expression growing worried as the bug tilts his head this way and that, wings a blur as he hovers.]
But...something's wrong. One of the eyes, the right...it's duller than the other. I'm not...sure if he can see out of it. And I know for a fact that Rikki didn't strike him in the face...at- at least not where I could see. I don't know if this could have happened when she fought him, or if it was already there.
Is it...normal to find wild Pokémon like this? I don't know if I should take him back to the Pokémon Center or not, now that I'm noticing it. He doesn't seem to be in pain, but...I'm worried.

Usually when that happens with people, it's blindness. But if it's not in pain, it should be okay. I don't think it can be fixed. My Hoothoot can't balance, so he keeps falling over and flying weird. Maybe some Pokémon are born that way?
Maybe...it just seems strange that that sort of thing could happen when Pokémon Centers seem to be able to heal them without too much difficulty, doesn't it?
[Birth defects happen to every creature. She's being very rational.]
If they're born like that, there's not much you can do unless the doctors here know how to fix it. Shouldn't you be happy it's not in pain and likes you?
[Kaneki blinks, shaking his head quickly.]
No, no that- that isn't it at all! I just...wasn't sure if my Pokemon accidentally injured it or not when they battled. I know people say...Pokemon like to battle, but I don't want to hurt them either...
But if you're right, and this Pokemon was born that way...then of course it's fine.
[She nods and smiles.]
Good! You should get to know it better! It's sticking close, so it's gotta like you. I think they like it, too, when you give them a nickname. I give all of mine nicknames, and they love them!
As if to confirm what she's saying, the Yanma hovers a bit closer and nudges his face against Kaneki's with a few soft clicks, getting a small smile out of his new trainer.]
Ah, yes...I have nicknames for my other Pokemon, but I haven't thought of one for him yet. I've been giving them names after different characters in books, or authors...or other things I've read.
I name mine after whatever pops up in my head. Like, this is Himiko! My Hoothoot is Fukuro, and my Flabébé is Sakuya!
[All Japanese. It seems to be a trend with her. Himiko's ears twitch as she intently watches the Yanma.]
Plus, nicknames sound way better than trying to say their actual names all the time.
[He reaches a hand up to very carefully scratch the side of the Yanma's head. He might still be a bit nervous around him, but he's warmed up to Kaneki very quickly. He closes his eyes and leans into the scratching, wiggling his feet in midair.]
Those are nice names. Sakuya seems fitting...Flabébé looks a bit like a flower, doesn't it?
She hates the cold, so the doesn't like coming out of her ball, or else I'd introduce you to her. She's super cute, and has an orange flower. I'm hoping she'll like doing idol things with me! I know Himiko would.
Oh yeah, I'm Rise Kujikawa!
It's okay. My Kadabra doesn't like the cold weather very much, either, so I know how that is.
My name is Ken Kaneki. It's nice to meet you, Rise-san.
[She always looks super happy talking about her Pokémon.]
Nice to meet you too, Ken-kun~
[video]
Kaneki is fine. And I'll be glad when spring gets here...it was very cold when I first arrived.
[She made sure to get a winter coat asap.]

Mm, well...I don't think there is a way to go home. Nobody seems to know of a way, at least.
That's what I thought. I hope Sempai and the others don't miss me too much.
Wow! That's amazing! I'm glad to hear that~! So Sempai won't miss me at all!
If what I've been told is true, they shouldn't. They might even show up here too, one day.

[She has quite a few friends she would love to have here.]
