[In comparison to the rest of this weekend so far, today has actually been the nicest, as far as the weather is concerned. It's still well below freezing but at least it isn't snowing, or hailing to make matters even more unpleasant. It's still not really a day you'd want to be out, but Kaneki had actually run out of books to read back at the hotel. It was either chance it and see if the weather turns bad again, or run out while the skies are clear and pick up something to tide him over.

Judging by his surroundings it looks like he eventually went for the latter. He's found a table near the back of the bookstore and is tending to a cup of coffee with one hand while the other rests on an open book before him, his hand moving down the page every now and then to help keep his place. While she usually makes herself at home on his shoulders, Kaneki's Zangoose is sitting on the floor lightly dozing near his feet. Not because she wants to be there, but because Kaneki has his hands full enough with a baby Smeargle sitting on the table across from his book. He's busily coloring a blank sheet of paper with the tip of his tail, only stopping when Kaneki looks up to see he's put his tail into his mouth.]

Ah ah- no, don't do that. You're getting paint all over your face...

[The Smeargle stays still as Kaneki picks up a napkin and wipes his mouth, cheekily sticking his tongue out and licking his trainer's fingers before he has a chance to return to his book. He isn't making a terrible mess at least, other than getting his fur smeared with paint every time his tail wanders back into his mouth...which it seems to do the second Kaneki looks back down.]

[Eventually the Smeargle tuckers himself out enough to want to take a nap in Kaneki's lap, and now that he's finished his coffee he can get a video started.]

I'm just curious, but some of you have been here for a long time, so...what is it that you do for a living, here? Other than being a trainer or a breeder, I mean. There are a lot of places you can find jobs, I'm sure, but I'm just wondering what sorts of careers people here have been pursuing, if any.

[He's thinking about looking for a job at some point if he is going to be here for a while, and while he knows he would really like to work somewhere like...well, the place he's at right now, he feels a bit weird just asking for a job outright.]

I've been here fairly long enough. Almost four years by this point.

Do you like it here?

[It is a long time. Atsuro just doesn't (want to?) think about it until his anniversary pops up. Or someone asked.]

Yeah, I do. There's some hiccups and the occasional obstacles, but I really enjoy my time here.

Mm. I really like it here too, so far. It's taken some getting used to...but it's nice.

It's usually rough at first, until you get used to a routine and just start doing things here.

[He nods, letting his hand idly pet his sleeping Smeargle's back.]

Yeah, I can imagine...it's going to take some work to get used to this place. I don't think it will ever really feel like home, but I guess it can get pretty close.

Yeah.

[Atsuro nods. A second home... This world certainly become something like that to him.]

It depends on what kind of person you are, but this place is like another home for us. At least...it took me a while to think that.

[A Spritzee appears on the screen, lightly landing on top of his head.]

I think that's a good way of looking at it.

[Oh. Well he's never seen that before...]

...what kind of Pokemon is that?

Hm? Oh, her.

[He knows that perfume smell anywhere. Atsuro points a finger at her.]

Yuzu here is a Spritzee, a fairy type Pokemon.

Fairy type? ...I haven't read about that.

[Probably because it's so new there aren't really many books on it in Johto, yet.]

That sounds a bit strange for a type.

[Because, you know, the others aren't.]

I'm not surprised. The type's...somewhat new to Johto and Kanto. So there's not a lot of information about it yet.

[Just give it time.]

And it is a little weird. But on the other hand, it's also not.

[Just look at the rest of the typing.]

Interesting...so are there any Pokemon of that type in Goldenrod?

Goldenrod... Which means Route 34 and 35. [Thinking, thinking.] I think you can catch a Snubbull or Jigglypuff in one of them, if you want a fairy type.

Alright. I might look around sometime...it's just been really too cold lately to go out much.

Yeah, it is. Travelling in this cold can be a little hard if you don't like it. It's a bit better if you have a nice, warm Pokemon to ride on.

[He have an Arcanine and ain't afraid to use him.]

Yeah, I...don't think I can really ride on any of mine.

[They're a bit small for that.]

And I keep hearing that I should probably get a fire type sometime, too.

[He nods.]

Yeah, I really recommend getting one. Other than being good in battle, they can keep you warm.

I will look into it. It sounds like there are a lot of them, so I'll have a lot to choose from.

[He nods again, grinning.]
