I'm sure they would have been. I'm not even sure if he was a bug that could fly or not...it's never said, but I always pictured he turned into something like a cockroach, maybe.

That wouldn't surprise me. A lot of the books I've read here have had their stories altered to fit Pokemon in...and a lot of the time they don't come out fully intact.
