[He looks back at the Pokemon, both of which are still very much aware of Kaneki and Chie's presence, but don't seem to mind their audience much. They haven't done anything but watch them, anyway.]
[He's probably going to regret this later but goshdang he suddenly cares very much about the outcomes of the lives of these tiny parasite crab things.]
Okay, let's do this. [ She opens her shoulder bag, pulling out an empty Pokéball which she throws at one of the parasite crabs. The ball successfully connects and the poor thing goes inside with a flash of light, and it shakes a few times before that click is heard.
[Kaneki had his hand halfway into his bag to pull out a Pokeball of his own before Chie tossed hers out, already having caught it by the time he's got one in hand.
The Paras left behind jumps, skittering in a quick, frantic circle as it looks for the other. Not wanting to have to see it get upset, he's quick to toss his ball at the other one, nearly missing the rock entirely in his haste but somehow managing to still clip the thing on the side enough to cause the ball to open and pull it inside. Like before, the ball shakes vigorously for a moment before it clicks and goes still.]
I don't really follow a theme when it comes to naming mine, but I've named a few after camera-related companies? So I could call it Hanimex or Angénieux or something.
Have you? That's a good idea. With these guys having parasites and all...it reminds me of The Metamorphosis, but I already nicknamed my Venipede Gregor. It shouldn't be too hard to think of something else, though.
It's not boring at all! I mean, the book is written in the perspective of a man who wakes up turned into a bug one day. You don't think that's interesting?
No, pretty much the opposite. He finds out that he can't really do much of anything. He struggles to even get out of bed at first, and he can't just leave his room because his family might see him. He still has his mind and everything, he's just...a giant bug.
It gets even worse after because his family does eventually find him, and they're repulsed by what he's turned into.
Yeah. It never really gets much better for him, after that. The author never explains how or why he transformed, either, other than that it just...happened.
He gets injured over the course of the book, and soon realizes how much of a burden he is on his family. He can't work, he can't eat normal food anymore, and they're terrified of him...so he just...dies.
[...okay, that...actually gets a laugh out of him.]
I'm sure they would have been. I'm not even sure if he was a bug that could fly or not...it's never said, but I always pictured he turned into something like a cockroach, maybe.

[ The Paras seem to be having a good time hanging out on a rock, though. ]
Maybe I should catch one of them.

What about the other one?

You don't think that would upset the other one, though? They do seem to be pretty close...

...that was easy.

I wonder what I should name it.
no subject
Hm...I don't know what I should name mine, either. Maybe...maybe after something from literature?
[He shrugs.]
That's what I usually do, anyway.

Maybe things would have been better if he could've flown away to make a new life in the world of insects.

I might give it a read, someday. I'm sure there's a version of it here where he turns into a Bug-type.
